STAFF at a longstanding company have celebrated the firm’s 250th anniversary.
Sandycroft-based hydraulics company Fawcett Christie was established in Liverpool on May 14, 1758 and operated there for almost 200 years before moving to Bromborough in 1947 and then to Sandycroft in 1987.

The company has produced a wide range of products over the years, including marine engines for anti-submarine frigates, hydraulic pumps, milling machines for aircraft carriers and rotary furnaces. More recent developments in the hydraulics industry have led to Fawcett Christie becoming involved in renewable energy and oil and gas technologies.

Today their core product range includes high pressure hydraulic accumulators, coolers and filters and the company has supplied products for the production of major films, including Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Casino Royale.

Graham Miller, managing director, said: “We are delighted to be able to celebrate such an amazing achievement.”
