Sales is a Number’s Game

One of our consultants was reminiscing yesterday!

Many years ago, one of my first jobs after leaving school was in a Double Glazing Telesales Company. Having never done telesales, I was a little worried! The company was run by a partnership of 3 double glazing old timers. The best piece of advice I got from them was that selling was just a number’s game. Ask enough people if they want to buy something, and someone will say yes.

It is something that has stuck with me whenever I consider giving up after a few cold phone calls or a few doors knocked with no success. Just keep knocking, ringing and your sale will turn up!

This is advice with is as true today as it was back in 1840! :)

The best way out of a downturn is to work harder and smarter. Working harder is about making more calls, knocking more doors, working longer hours. Working smarter is about tuning your sales process so that each time you are contacting a potential customer, you are making every syllable count.
