When you want to give someone a web page address, what do you do? Most people just remember the domain name, and tell you to find it from there!
‘That news story about the fella who sells vacuum bags online?’
‘I think its on the Times. I think its www.times.com, and look at the business section!’
It is even harder when you are trying to text an address – it usually ends up a cryptic mess because of the limitation on letters.

The answer is to use a URL shortening service. There are two big ones.
The idea is that you paste the full address into the box.

It takes next to no time to do, and doesn’t cost anything. The only problem is that you need to test the links before you give them out, just in case you pasted the wrong address in the first place!
