A NORTH Wales racing enthusiast is naming his latest filly after a successful Flintshire business.

Businessman Rob Lloyd – chief executive of Mold-based property developer Eatonfield and founder of Halkyn and Cheshire-based Rob Lloyd Racing – has named the racehorse Moneysupermarket.

The two year-old filly was bought at Goff’s sale at Kempton Racecourse in March for £60,000.

Mr Lloyd said he had wanted a name with a local connection and decided on Moneysupermarket after the UK’s leading price comparison site business which is based at Ewloe.

“I’ve always been impressed with moneysupermarket.com’s winning formula and quick-off-the-mark operation. So I thought ‘What an appropriate name’,” he said.

moneysupermarket.com chief executive Simon Nixon said it was a great compliment to his business and he was delighted to make the naming of the horse official.

“The pace of business on the internet is extremely fast and non-stop. I hope this is true of the horse and I look forward to watching it race,” added Mr Nixon.
