  • Sorting out the Tweets from the Twits

We have been using Twitter for a few months, in the hope that it is a good tool for business marketing. While we have made a number of great contacts, there has been a recent push within the Twitter world to just gain numbers, and ignore the messages.

There are many tools to help you automatically follow people because they use a single keyword – the more you choose, the more followers you get. While this is good for the ego, it isn’t doing much for our marketing!

We have been using Twollow, which has grown our follower numbers by 100% with a few days. We should be happy, but we are not!

We have found that we are now being followed by people who have nothing to gain from the service we offer? Is this bad? Is it not like having retail browsers? You could argue the merits all month!

We have decided to fine tune our followers to just include local business, local people, local news and a handful of experts. We hope this will increase the usefulness of our Tweets for the people who still care about reading Tweets! :)

Have you done something similar? Getting jaded with Twitter? Let us know what you think!
